The Sony KDL-40Z5800 is one of the very latest Sony models to be announced from late ‘09. It is the 40-inch model from the Sony Bravia Z5800 series of Full HD 1080p LCD HDTVs, which are also the first on the market to features a tripple tuner and Motionflow 200Hz technology.

The triple tuner is essentially three tuners (DVB-S2, DVB-T and DVB-C), including a Freesat HD tuner, allowing you to watch Freesat HD broadcasts without the need of a separate decoder box.

The Sony KDL-40Z5800 is very similar to the Sony Z5500 Series with a few tweaks and the Freesat tuner. It is a great addition, enabling you to view OTA HD content without subscribing to a service such as Sky HD. With an LNB connection you can connect up your old Sky dish or a new Freesat dish, both will work.

The Z5800 is the latest version of the highend Bravia Z range so you can expect it to loaded with the latest features and specifications. It features a Full HD 1080p LCD with 200Hz Motionflow technology to keep the images sharp and judder free, Bravia Engine 3 technology, along with a 100,000:1 high dynamic contrast ratio.

Connectivity is very good with 4x HDMI inputs, a media capable USB 2.0 port for music, videos, and photos. There is also a PC VGA port along with an Ethernet connection for DLNA connectivity allowing media streaming from other computers on your network, and AppliCast online services.

TrustedReviews gave the Sony KDL-40Z5800 a very impressive nine out of ten rating, and said, the Sony 40Z5800 packs all of Sony’s customary knack with sharpness and detail when showing HD content. Thanks to the quality of Sony’s latest 200Hz engine, the KDL-40Z5800 actually looks even sharper than most Sony HDTVs, as there’s precious little motion blur to worry about. The neatness of its Freesat integration and, outstanding picture quality make it a comfortable 9 out of 10 all the way.

The Samsung P2770HD is a mix between a computer monitor and an HDTV. You might remember the 23-inch Samsung P2370HD monitor, which is essentially a computer monitor with a built in HDTV tuner and HDMI input.

Now Samsung have released the larger 27-inch P2770HD, with HDTV tuner and HD connections. Many people don’t want to buy or own a separate dedicated computer monitor and HDTV, when one device can do both tasks. Samsung have realized this an have created the Samsung P2770HD.

The 23-inch model has HD and non-HD models, so it’s not known if there will be a 27-inch Samsung P2770 model, or just the P2770HD model.

As well as being a very capable and attractive computer monitor, the P2770HD functions just as well as a HDTV receiving HDTV signals and HD inputs from HD devices, such as blu-ray players or HD games consoles. This makes it an ideal monitor / HDTV for a bedroom, or office etc.

It features a 1920 x 1080 Full HD 1080p resolution, 50:000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and also stereo speakers which can simulate 5.1 channel sound. The Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD even supports Picture In Picture and Picture By Picture modes, allowing you to view both your computer desktop and TV source at the same time.

There are plenty of connections on the Samsung P2770HD, including many HD inputs, such as HDMI, DVI, Component, VGA, along with TV inputs, Optical Out, Audio In and Headphone out.

If you connect up to an HD device via HDMI you will get Full 1080p HD with Dolby Digital Plus, SRS TruSurround HD, and 5.1 optical SPDIF output!

LED backlit LCD HDTVs have become more and more common over the last year, especially with Samsung’s vast LED HDTV range.

But until now this LED backlit technology have remained exclusively in large HDTVs and portable devices such as laptops and netbooks. They are favored over standard CCFL backlights as they use less power and provide better colors.

Vizio have now taken the LED technology to their new Razor LED range of smaller LED LCD HDTVs.

The 23-inch Vizio VM230XVT and 19-inch Vizio VM190XVT both feature LED backlights for improved contrast and colors, along with very thin profiles. Both have a 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and the larger 23-inch VM230XVT has a full HD / 1080p resolution.

Both models can also be used as a digital picture frame via the USB port. Both of the Vizio Razor LED HDTV range are very energy efficient, and beat the new Energy Star 3.0 ratings by over 50%.

The Vizio VM190XVT will cost $349 and the larger VM230XVT will be $399.

Great picture performance, advanced connectivity, and an eco-friendly and stunning design are the features form Samsung UN46B8000. For the image connoisseur, the highest 240Hz motion blur reduction technology, a 5,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio that displays significantly deep blacks and pristine whites, and enriched color processing deliver outstanding video.

I really love Samsung UN46B8000. It is extremely thin, and the color is extremely bright. I haven’t noticed a lot of flash lighting, the triple ball effect or other problems that have with more Standard Set LCD. If one leaves the factory settings for picture quality, you should leave it be. Do not use the thin wall mount, if you have one. It’s magnetic and have some problems with the set.

I was able to use to get a steal in the price of a sale, and had to jump on them. If you have money to burn, is a big crowd. There are some standard set of the 9-series LCD from Samsung, which are great.

Be aware that there is no real LED set out there. This is one side to be illuminated. This means that there are some LED lights offer the edges of the screen backlight on the LCD. The next series, 9000, will feature local dimming LEDs, which are distributed in areas throughout the series. Not a real LED, but closer, but .. More than likely .. You pay the price.

If you are looking for an LED Edge-Series LCD, and you’re happy w / 46in, jump in for Samsung UN46B8000. Otherwise, wait for a while until new technology or may be until prices fall.
